For the minimalist in all of us (and for those who have yet to upgrade to an iPod) is the Muji CD player. Whats so special about this thing (aside from the fact that it looks as if u just taped a CD to the wall)? You turn it on by pulling the power chord. Yep thats it. Simple.
A perennial bestseller ever since Muji managing director Masaaki Kanai came across designer Naoto Fukasawa's prototype at a Tokyo design convention in 1999. The design borrows from wall-mounted fans common in Japanese kitchens. The player spins an exposed CD and has a casing that doubles as a speaker. There's only one dial to control the volume, and you turn it on and off by yanking on the cord. The Museum of Modern Art in New York has added the CD player to its permanent collection.
Look cool but look simple at the same time - that Muji's touch.
